Share the Mission... Share the Road

Fellow Cyclists:

On behalf of the Soto family, I welcome and encourage you to participate in the mission of promoting motorist/cyclist awareness in the state of Tennessee and in your home town.  Two years ago my Father Edgar died as a result of injuries sustained after being hit by a motorist.  After encouraging him to take up the sport of cycling, my father began a daily routine which encompassed road cycling approaching 20 miles a day.  After 42 years of hard work for one company and less than 2 years of retirement, he was fitter than ever having now ridden every day for 5 months.   The events that followed were not good, as despite a sunny day with the sun to his back on a straight as an arrow road, my father was struck by a motorist who "just didn't see him" and later died as a result of massive brain trauma.  The helmet he diligently wore was not enough.

Fast forward (and thanks to the encouragement of the TriStar Cycling Team), our family and team got behind the Share the Road initiative to gain 1000 pre-registered plate buyers in order to initiate the production of a license plate dedicated to promoting motorist and cyclist safety. IT FAILED!

Forward again, TriStar Cycling Team and our family ask each and every person who hears our message or participates in this great event to donate a minimum of $30 to the Share the Road cause as together we can restart this important initiative and promote motorist and cyclist safety in the great state of Tennessee.
