Announcing the 3rd Annual Edgar Soto Memorial Cycling Classic (ESMCC)

Nashville , Tenn. (March 4, 2008) – TriStar Cycling is proud to present the 3rd Annual Edgar Soto Memorial Cycling Classic (ESMCC) on June 13, 14 and 15, 2008.  This event honors the memory of Edgar Soto; a cyclist, a father and a grandfather who was killed while riding his bike in the greater Nashville area in 2003.  In his honor, we strive to increase awareness of “Share the Road” initiatives for Tennessee and across the country as part of our event.

The ESMCC has grown tremendously in its two year history with a participation level near 600 in 2007 - great things are expected again in 2008!

This year, we will stage three criterium (crit) races throughout the greater Nashville area.  Criterium racing is the most exciting format, pitting racers against one another for an intense contest on a closed course.  Field sizes can vary anywhere from 20 up to over 100 racers on the course for a set period of time.  Beginner categories race for 20-30 minutes while veterans race up to 75 minutes.

The event will kick-off on Friday with a timed trial and sprint competitions at the Music City Motorplex ( http://www.musiccitymotorplex.com/).  This will be an exciting venue for racers and spectators alike.

Saturday will see high-speed excitement in the heart of downtown Nashville all afternoon and into the evening, with professional racers finishing under the lights on 2 nd Avenue around 8:00pm - taking advantage of the night-time crowds.  This event is intended to mirror similar long-standing events held in cities such as Chicago , Charlotte , St. Louis , Athens , and Birmingham .

On Sunday, our event moves south to Maryland Farms in Brentwood – a successful venue for us over many years.  On this day, we will crown the overall champions at the conclusion of each event.  Total purse for the weekend races is $19,000!

We are honored to partner with the Nashville Sports Council for promoting the ESMCC.  There are many levels of sponsorship opportunities available.  To discuss how you can become involved – from financial sponsorship to donation of merchandise to be awarded as prizes, or even to offer your support as a

volunteer - please reach out to us at mailto:info@sotomemorial.org

Interested parties should be checking back with http://www.sotomemorial.org/for more information as the event draws closer!

Ki of Life

TriStar Cycling, a charitable organization, continues to promote youth cycling activities. We believe that cycling is a great platform to teach young men and women how to be successful in life. We strongly encourage Junior cyclists to live healthy lifestyles and promote proper nutrition, regular exercise and race preparation. This year's Kiddie Crit is being promoted in conjunction with the Ki of Life Learning Center.

Ginny Harper, the founder of The Ki of Life Learning Center, is passionate about her Kid's Against Crohns' program: A special program that supports health of the youth in the prevention and elimination of digestive disease. The Ki of Life Learning Center is a non-profit organization that teaches the principles of macrobiotics as well as offers many therapeutic services. The purpose of the Kid's Against Crohn's charity is to raise money for individual youth with Crohn's / Colitis so that they will be able to complete a life changing program at the Ki of Life learning Center. This is a hands-on educational experience that teaches you how to reach your true health through nutrition, physical movement, and mental awareness.

With the support of the community, we hope to allow many of our youth to have the opportunity to change their unhealthy habits, and reach their true health. All monies raised will be donated to the Ki of Life Learning Center, Kid's Against Crohn's scholarship fund. Children will have the opportunity to apply for the scholarship and then pursue the program at the Ki of Life Learning Center.

In Loving Memory Of Edgar Soto
